Kaptur Birthright Photo Contest Leaders

Birthright

The Kaptur Birthright Photo Contest launched last week with great entries from all over the United States, including from colleges such as the University of Maryland, Florida State University, and Arizona State University. It looks like they had an AWESOME time on their Birthright/Israel trips!

Although our contestants are from all over the country and were taking photos thousands of miles from each of their respective schools, there is one common thread to all of their pictures: the State of Israel. Many of them have taken pictures of the exact same locations: the Western Wall, Tel Aviv, and the Old City.

Now it’s your turn to help determine a winner. The Kaptur with the most views by August 15th wins a grove of trees in Israel, an iPad, and a photo album. Be sure to enter the Kaptur Photo Contest to have a chance to win these awesome prizes, too!

Here is the leader board as it stands right now (you can click on the names to check out the contestant’s Kaptur):

1. Kevin Cowan
2. Dylan Abrams
3. Rachel Mahler

We also had some new partners come on board this week, and would like to thank them:

For some insight into Birthright trips we turned to our marketing intern, David, who had the opportunity to travel to Israel on a 10-day journey with 40 strangers from the University of Maryland, College Park on Taglit Birthright Israel. You can check out David’s Kaptur and all of his photos here www.kptr.it/Birthright

Taglit Birthright Israel is a free, 10-day trip for Jewish college-aged students (18-26) to experience and see what Israel has to offer. They have sent almost 300,000 individuals to Israel from over 54 countries and over 1,000 different colleges and universities across North America.

The students on David’s trip experienced some truly amazing things such as the Dead Sea, Masada, Bedouin tents and more. David has said numerous times that, “One of the coolest parts of the Birthright trip was welcoming the Israeli soldiers into our University of Maryland family.” The group even had the opportunity to be addressed by the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu at the annual Mega Event, which is also attended by the top musicians and artists in Israel.

The group still sees each other and catches up on a regular basis at the headquarters of the Maryland Jewish Experience due to the amazing, and free, home-cooked meals that are offered on a bi-weekly basis.

P.S. David is not eligible for the contest due to unfair advantage :(

Sharp Shooters at Kaptur!

Last week the Kaptur team took to the Westside Pistol and Rifle Range in New York City. We proved to not only have sharp brains, but to be pretty sharp shooters, too. After an intensive hour long safety class, we were fully armed and staring down the barrels of our .22 caliber rifles, one of the few guns you don’t need a licence to shoot with in the City of New York. Everyone was very on target when it came to shooting, but Adam (who had been shooting before ;) ) was the most consistent.

Of course, we Kaptur’d it all. You can check out the full set of photos here: www.kptr.it/KapturShooting

We’re looking for other fun team outing ideas, so if you have any ideas please feel free to comment on this post or send an email to sarah@kaptur.com

Kaptur the London Olympics 2012

With less than 30 days to go, everything in London is ramping up for the Summer Olympics. If you are excited as I am for the starting of the Olympic Games, you probably are watching the live video footage of the Olympic Torch Relay.

If you are even more of an Olympic junkie and ambitious enough to go to the Games, we are fully behind you! To help make your experience even better we have looked into some of the logistics for you. A round-trip airline flight is $1002, 16 nights in a campsite will set you back $248, a tent is $169.97, and event tickets start at $25. While the cost is significant, I think we’d agree the experience will be priceless.

Booking a ticket to England now is a little pricey, so we have done everyone a favor and created a Kaptur to serve as a virtual Olympic vacation for you. Check out the Kaptur to see photos from the Games; without even spending a pound you’ll share highlights and experiences that even some tourists might be missing. If you’ve decided to make the trip to England (or live in England), feel free to update our Kaptur with your own photos to make all our “Olympic vacations” feel more real.
